An Everyday Superhero: Part 5 (Meet Jack Canouse)

When I first met Papa Jack many years ago, I barely spoke English. I even remember having my bilingual dictionary on my hand all the time in order to communicate with him. Even though it was a little bit stressful not to speak the same language, he was always with a kind smile on his face. Looking back I realize that kindness is a language that can be spoken in many ways or can be expressed even without words. That is why anyone can understand it, because a simple act, a simple hug, a simple smile, can speak louder than words. It doesn’t matter where we are from, nor our age, culture, gender, language. It doesn’t matter if we are deaf or blind, if we do not know how to read or write, because the language of kindness will always be understood.

Papa Jack, that's what we love to call him, is a prime example of how one should treat others. He is a person who shows compassion, empathy and love to everyone he meets. Whether it is someone with all the riches in the world or someone who is less fortunate than him, he treats them with equal respect and validation.

I look up to him because he chooses to live his life like a true hero, sacrificing the possibility of living a comfortable and luxurious life to let other people get the chance to live a good life.

All the Peruvians and I feel so blessed to have him as our role model, our friend, our mentor, and as our Papa Jack. I have no words to describe the warmth and affection we get from him. Since day one, he has made us feel we are a part of his family. To make it short, he is the best. He is an everyday superhero.

Un Superhéroe de todos los días - Parte 5

Cuando conocí a Papá Jack, yo apenas hablaba inglés. Incluso recuerdo tener un diccionario bilingüe a la mano todo el tiempo con la finalidad de poder comunicarme. Aunque era un poco estresante no hablar el mismo idioma, él siempre estaba con una sonrisa en su rostro, pero mirando hacia atrás, me di cuenta que la BONDAD es un lenguaje que puede ser hablado de muchas maneras o se puede expresar incluso sin palabras, es por eso que cualquiera puede llegar a entenderlo, porque un simple acto, un simple abrazo, una simple sonrisa, puede hablar más que las palabras. No importa de donde seamos, ni nuestra edad, cultura, género, idioma, no importa si somos mudos o ciegos, si no sabemos leer o escribir, porque el lenguaje de la bondad siempre será comprendido.

Papa Jack, así es como nos encanta llamarlo, es un excelente ejemplo de cómo se debe tratar a los demás. Es una persona que muestra compasión, empatía y amor a todos los que conoce.Ya sea alguien con todas las riquezas del mundo o alguien menos afortunado que él. Los trata con igual respeto y validación.

Lo admiro porque elige vivir su vida como un verdadero héroe, sacrificando la posibilidad de vivir una vida cómoda y lujosa para permitir que otras personas tengan la oportunidad de vivir una buena vida.

Todos los peruanos y mi persona nos sentimos bendecidos de tenerlo como nuestro modelo a seguir, nuestro amigo, nuestro mentor, y como nuestro Papa Jack. No tengo palabras para describir el cariño y afecto que recibimos por parte de él. Desde el primer día, él nos ha hecho sentir como parte de su familia. En pocas palabras, el es el MEJOR.
